Psalm 40:6 Sacrifice and meal offering You have not desired; My ears You have opened; Burnt offering and sin offering You have not required
God delights in our obedience but the mind finds all ways to either justify itself or find a loop hole in the way in which we carry out His word in our lives. Much like when we are given a recipe ; instead of following it measure for measure we add, take away so that the end result may look similar to the original but the taste, texture and length of cooking may vary . Likewise, we may pray and cry out for His will.. but when it comes how often do we take that which is given? Do we add , divide, multiply and minus or are we able to take His word no matter how big or small and simply let it be ?
In the years in which I have served in a formal capacity I have tried my best to do things which I believe would please Him and please others. I believed I tried to do things His way . But perhaps the essence of it all is that I did things my way and it has led to nothing but feelings of guilt, despair and frustration.
I am slowly learning that actually the recipe for God's will in my life to flow is simpler. Jesus has already done the hard part. He is not interested in WHAT I can and will DO. Time with Him guarantees that anyway.. He is more interested to discover, how deep is our love for Him. In the busyness of our day...Will we make time for Him? And when we do, will we do it our way or His?
